“Summer’s almost over,” Breanna said. “We are going to have to start going to bed earlier, so we can get up for school the next day.”
“I’m excited to go back to school because we will meet new friends,” Harmonie added.
Then Catie said, “I’m glad my parents taught me a bedtime routine. It makes me fall asleep faster.”
“We’ve read several bedtime story books as part of our summer reading challenge,” Coral added. “If we share them, maybe parents will be able to get their children to go to sleep easier.”
“Hmm, where do we start?” Janna asked. “I know! I loved The Night of the Magical Flight by Melinda Kinsman. It is an excellent bedtime story that will surely give children dreams of wizards, magical carpet rides, far away lands and daring rescues.”
“I liked that one, as well,” Breanna said. “And I liked Night Night My Child by Ryann Hall. The book was about a mom and daughter’s bedtime routine. It made me think of my mom teaching me to brush my teeth, wash my face, brush my hair and kiss everyone goodnight before I went to bed.”
“I always greeted the moon and stars ‘hello’ before going to sleep,” Janna said. “And I told the volcanos not to erupt.”
“That was sweet,” Harmonie told Janna.
“What about the book we read a while back about puppies?” Catie recalled getting the girls back on the subject.
“That was Tell Me How You Say Goodnight by Teddy O’Malley,” Janna said. “It had goodnight in different languages and I dreamed of puppies several nights in a row after we read it.”
“Just talking about these books is making me sleepy,” Coral said right before she yawned. “I think it’s time to get ready for bed.”
