Little Green by Arnold Rudnick

Little Green

The Mystic Princesses are on a reading streak this week. They’ve just finished reading Little Green and are chattering away as normal.

Janna started the discussion by saying, “Any book with animals, fish and birds is cool!”

“I agree,” Coral said. “I liked it even though it was meant for younger children.”

Harmonie said, “Books teaching children self-acceptance and acceptance of others could help bring about peace.”

“Yes,” Catie added. “Children would know that everyone is important and has a place in our world.”

“And the book has beautiful pictures, too.” Breanna said.

Our Poems for Kids by Melinda Kinsman

Our Poems for KidsCatie turned off her Kindle and turned to the other Mystic Princesses who were smiling because the book was so cute. They’d just finished reading Our Poems for Kids (Top of the Wardrobe Gang, Book 3), a rhyming picture book, by Melinda Kinsman. “So, what did you think,” Catie asked the others.

“I liked ‘Row, Joe, Row,’ Coral said. “People need to learn to swim if they are going to be near the water.”

Breanna chimed and said that “Rhythm and Rhyme” reminded her of when she would hula dancing.

“I loved ‘Wild Child!’ because I love to be outdoors,” Janna said as she glanced at her hiking boots.

Harmonie said that “Do You Have What it Takes” was her favorite because it was a happy poem that tells kids they can do what they set their minds to do.

And Catie finished their book club discussion saying, “Of course, as a painter, I love colors. That made ‘The Paint Box’ and ‘My Boots are RED Boots!’ a lot of fun for me.”
