The Mystic Princesses turned off their ereader as they just finished reading Willow’s Song, by Natalie Finnigan, which left them feeling both sad and happy at the same time. The book was about a fairy with a broken wing that was painful and would not heal. When they got to the end of the rhyme, they were sad to discover that there is a real Willow, who had stomach ailments which cannot be cured. But they were happy that Willow found pleasure in singing.
“Harmonie, why are you crying?” Janna asked handing her a tissue.
“I’m sad that Willow will always be sick.”
“You are able to make people feel peaceful,” Breanna said. “You should be happy that Willow found relief through singing.”
Coral added, “And the book helps people understand that they should look for positive experiences that they can enjoy instead of concentrating on what they can’t do.”
“I agree,” Catie said. “Sometimes we can’t control our circumstances. But we can control our outlook. Willow decided to be positive even though she is sick.”
